I’ve got some super-exciting news for you today! It’s partly about laundry and partly about something way better than laundry!
Remember the children from an Eastern European orphanage who we hosted over Christmas? Well… we’ve been approved to re-host them this summer!
I am so excited to give those children a big hug again! We’re already counting down the days until we see them and making plans for the summer! According to their orphanage director, the children are counting down the days, too!
What does this have to do with laundry? For them to come to visit us, plane tickets, visas, passports, train tickets, meals while they travel… all this must be purchased. The cost comes to just under $3,000 per child. And there’s 4 children. So that’s nearly $12,000.
I realize that’s a lot of money which could do a lot of good in other places. Is it worth it? You betcha! Coming here means that our host children continue to develop a relationship with a family who knows and loves them. Children who age out of the orphanage at 16 have an 80% chance of entering a life of crime (the boys) or a 60% chance of being trafficked (the girls). But for children who have been hosted and know that their host families love them, their statistical likelihood of suffering that fate drops to below 20%. Is it worth a lot, a lot, a lot of money to keep bringing them here? If it were my daughter facing that future I would want someone to do this for her. So the answer is Yes! It’s so, so worth it.
Laundry Tips, Inspiration & Coupons
In order to bring our host children back to the United States this summer we are fundraising again. I was so touched by the way people poured out their hearts to these children at Christmas! I wanted to give something to each person who gave, but it wasn’t possible. Now it’s possible.
I’ve written an ebook about Laundry. It’s a project I’ve been working on for about 4 years now and it’s finally ready! Except I’m not going to sell it. (Not yet, anyway). I am going to give it away for free to anyone who donates to our host children’s fund at New Horizons for Children! It’s my way of saying “Thank You”!
What Will You Find in “Battle of the Laundry Pile”?
Do you wear clothes? Do you have laundry? If you answered yes to either of those questions (and I hope you answered “yes” to BOTH of those questions!) there’s something in this book to help you! I have packed this ebook full of great resource and tips! I asked the laundry experts (Moms of large families) to share their laundry systems and best laundry tips. These Moms went above and beyond to help us out! Not only did they explain their systems in detail, but they took pictures and gave us a behind-the-scenes tour of the laundry rooms! You are going to be amazed!
I’ve also included articles for inspiration and encouragement, tips to help you develop your own laundry system, tutorials to show you a simple way to make your own non-toxic laundry soap and non-toxic laundry cream concentrate, a laundry symbols guide, laundry coloring pages for your little ones and laundry stickers for your day planner.
But what might be my favorite feature of all…..
Exclusive Laundry Coupons!
I asked on Facebook what your favorite laundry products are and you answered! I contacted four of those companies and they have very graciously agreed to partner with us and offering you an exclusive coupon! You will find coupons for:
- 25% off Jenuinely Pure Soap Nuts
- 20% off Molly’s Suds
- 10% off your next order at Deborah & Co
- $2 off your Homemaker’s Friend Day Planner at Homemaker’s Depot. (The coupons says $1, but it will take $2 off your order!)
Here’s How To Get Your Copy:
- Go to our host children’s You Caring page and donate to our host children’s account. We are suggesting a donation of at least $15 so that the bulk of your donation goes to New Horizons and doesn’t get eaten by Pay Pal fees. Since your donation goes directly to New Horizons for Children you will get a tax deductible receipt!
- Come back to this blog post and enter your information in the form below. You will be taken directly to the ebook! (As an added bonus, you’ll be added to our email list. Be sure to add “info@GoodOldDaysFarm.com” to your address book so that my emails aren’t blocked. You’ll want to look in the footer of the first email from me because there are special surprises for you there!)
When you click over to our host children’s You Caring page, you’ll notice that the goal is set at $35,000. I have a previous commitment that won’t let me fundraise at Christmas so this amount would allow the children to come this summer, this Christmas and again next summer (if they haven’t been adopted by then). Any money not used for this purpose will be used to create scholarships to help other sibling groups be hosted.
And just because I never get tired of looking at then…. here are those sweet faces, again!
I am so grateful for all the encouragement, prayer and enthusiasm my blog readers pour on our family and our host children. Please be sure to join our Dubois Adoption Prayer Warriors group on Facebook if you aren’t already there. That’s where I post a lot of fun updates and prayer requests! =) Please also share this post with anyone you know who would be willing to pray for us (or with anyone who wants the laundry ebook). Thank you!
