Some people are born with the gift of cleaning house and for those people, it really is a gift! I have one friend who can just make things sparkle. She says that cleaning makes her feel satisfied with a job well-done and she enjoys it.
I, on the other hand, don’t enjoy cleaning. I need constant motivation and encouragement! So when Sarah Mae published 31 Days to Clean: Having a Martha House the Mary Way earlier this year, I bought a copy and got busy!

The daily readings are brief and have two challenges. The “Martha Challenge” is some kind of to-do task that actually gets our house cleaner! The Mary Challenge is what makes this book so different from the other kazillion clean-your-house-books already on the market. It is the Mary Challenge that addresses your heart and helps get your attitude about cleaning right!
This month, HomeMaker’sChallenge.com is running a series of articles that correspond with the 31 Days to Clean Ebook. The actual challenges are not revealed. For that, you’ll need to buy the ebook. But each day at HomeMaker’sChallenge.com you will find an article that in some way relates to that day’s reading.
Yesterday, I was over at the HomeMaker’s Challenge discussing the chapter “Life is Hard.” We all go through times when Life is hard! How do you motivate yourself to get up and clean your house when the last thing you want to do is get up and clean your house? I have a little game I play with myself and it works! Every time!
